Learning Intention of the Week – Project Petting Zoo
Students applied their understanding of area, perimeter, and volume to design a petting zoo that meets specific space and budget requirements. Using a set budget, students made strategic decisions as they purchased animals, enclosures, and attractions, strengthening their financial literacy through real-world calculations and problem-solving.
Students then created a detailed blueprint of their petting zoo, using their knowledge of area and perimeter to ensure each habitat and attraction fit within the allotted space, and volume to consider the capacity of animal enclosures. Students then designed a logo and brochure that showcased their petting zoo.
