Weekly Update - March 13

Thank you again to all families who joined us this afternoon for student-led conferences!

Highlights of the Week:

  • ELAL – students finished up their final drafts of their persuasive writing and convinced us to give them the reading lounge areas back. We will continue to work through persuasive writing next week on new topics of their choice!

Students also used manipulatives to look at the relationship between area and perimeter of rectangles and learned about finding area of parallelograms and triangles.
  • Science –
    • Grade 6 – students finished up their research projects on their cities. We will continue looking at the influences of climate around the world next week!

Learning Intention of the Week – Spring Equinox Representation

Students created an image today that represented the transition from Winter to Spring in time for Spring Equinox next week. This transition also ties into our read aloud, Barren Grounds as the main characters are fighting to bring the Green Time back to the Misewa community who have been stuck in the White Time for several years. Students created their image within a circle by intertwining images that represented both spring and winter
