Learning Intention of Week: Instructional Writing – How to Carve a Pumpkin
Today we practiced writing clear and organized hamburger paragraphs that give step-by-step instructions. Students practiced this skill by writing their own “how-to” paragraphs on carving a pumpkin. After writing, we followed the students’ instructions to see if their steps were clear enough to successfully create a jack-o’-lantern. This hands-on activity helped students understand the importance of using sequence words, details, and clear instructions in their writing.
