Happy Equinox week! What a great and full week at TRS. We managed to get out on plenty of walks, did lots of journalling and even had a Pickle Party!
Highlights of the Week:
- ELAL – Students worked on creating complex sentences using independent and dependent clauses.
- Math – This week we practiced plotting and reading points on the Cartesian plane, using all quadrants of the grid. We explored positive and negative number lines to help us with reading the grid.
- Science – Students spent time learning about computer science this week by coding on Scratch.
- Social – We focused on Orange Shirt Day this week and worked on various tasks related to the Indigenous history of Canada.
- Art – Students made nature stickers to celebrate the Equinox. We gathered found objects from nature and turned them into our very own stickers.
How you can support at home:
- Homework – we are not sending through new homework this week as we are still missing quite a few from last week's Mystery Plotting page – please finish and return!

Learning Intention of Week: Truth and Reconciliation – Orange Shirt Day
This week, students spent time reflecting on the history of Indigenous peoples and their role in Canada. We read poems and songs written by Indigenous authors and listened to stories to help us understand the wrongdoings in Canada’s past. To do our part in ReconciliAction, students researched various Indigenous members of Treaty 7 to highlight the amazing people and celebrate their culture in a positive light!
